India, July 28 -- The producer of 'Udaipur Files', the contentious movie based on the 2022 murder of Rajasthan-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal, informed the Delhi high court on Monday that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is yet to recertify the film, even after they implemented the cuts recommended by the Centre.
On July 21, the Centre had cleared the movie's release, subject to the filmmaker carrying out six additional edits, in addition to the 55 cuts already implemented.
"Six cuts and one disclaimer, that has been done. The certification is still due," senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia, appearing for producer Amit Jani, told the bench of chief justice DK Upadhyay and justice Tushar Rao Gedela.
