Fide to announce venue for world cup soon: Prez
India, June 5 -- The city that will host the Fide Chess World Cup in India later this year will be announced in the next few days, with Fide president Arkady Dvorkovich refusing to confirm New Delhi as the venue.
The event is scheduled in October-November. Dvorkovich said he had heard the "argument" from a few players of rising pollution in New Delhi at that time of the year. "I heard about that argument from some players. But again, if the Indian government would say it is New Delhi, we would not fight it," Dvorkovich told Indian media.
