New Delhi, Dec. 9 -- Physiologists and sports-medicine experts argued for integrating sports psychology more deeply into athlete training and rehabilitation at the 16th edition of the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA) congress in Delhi. Until now, experts said, sports medicine in India has largely focused on physical injuries. The psychological components of recovery - motivation, pain perception and mental fatigue - have received far less attention, even though sports psychology can serve as a preventive measure for athletes.
