India, Feb. 24 -- The Greater Noida authority has decided to engage retired army personnel to contain illegal construction in different parts of the city.

The move comes as the authority realised that the retired army personnel deployed at the authority's main administrative building could help out in containing the illegal construction or encroachment on government land which is a challenge for officials.

Senior officials have decided to deploy these personnel in different areas including work circle 1, 2 and 3, where the illegal construction or encroachment is rampant, said officials.
