Mohali, March 20 -- In a major relief to around 2 lakh residents of Kansal, Nada, Nayagaon, and Chhoti Karoran villages, the forest and wildlife department of the Punjab government, in its affidavit submitted before the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday, stated that the Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary limit will remain at 100 meters for the Nayagaon municipal committee instead of 1 to 3 km. The SC's order on the matter is awaited.
For villages outside the Nayagaon municipal committee, the ESZ around the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary will range from 1 to 3 km. These villages include Perch, Karoran, and Seonk. The SC's ruling on this is also awaited.
