Raipur, Nov. 27 -- The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Wednesday filed the seventh charge sheet in the ongoing investigation into the Chhattisgarh liquor scam before the Special Court (Prevention of Corruption Act) in Raipur. The charge sheet names six accused, including former excise commissioner and secretary Niranjan Das. With this, charge sheets have now been filed against 50 accused so far, officials said. According to EOW, during his nearly three-year tenure in the excise department, Das allegedly deliberately changed the excise policy, manipulated departmental tenders and introduced irregularities in administration to extend benefits to a syndicate operating inside the department.
