eci says names of voters can't be deleted online
New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday reiterated that voter names cannot be deleted online by the public, further maintaining that it has provided investigators with all material relating to suspicious Form 7 applications in Karnataka's Aland constituency following allegations raised by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
In its press note, ECI said that while 6,018 deletion requests were filed online between December 2022 and February 2023, only 24 were verified as genuine. The remaining 5,994 were rejected, and an FIR (No. 26/2023) was registered in February 2023 by the ERO in Aland.
