Kolkata, Jan. 22 -- The February 14 deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the poll-bound West Bengal is likely to be extended after the Supreme Court issued a slew of directions to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to make the process transparent, accessible and voter-friendly, poll panel officials aware of the developments said.

Meanwhile the election body has sought a report from the state's chief secretary within 72 hours on why actions were not taken against four state government officials who were accused of adding names of fictitious voters in the electoral roll and compromising data security.
