nEW DELHI, April 10 -- Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday convened a meeting of key stakeholders to finalise the plan to turn the assembly "India's first" to operate entirely on solar energy. A drone survey of the assembly rooftops was also conducted to identify optimal locations for solar panel installation. Officials from the PWD and the Assembly participated in the meeting.

A 500-kiloWatt solar power system will be installed atop the building in the next 60 days. "The system will not only meet the assembly's energy needs but also generate 10% surplus electricity," Gupta said.
