India, Sept. 3 -- The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has imposed a penalty of Rs.102 crore on Kannada actress Ranya Rao in connection with a gold smuggling case that came to light earlier this year. Along with her, the DRI imposed a penalty of Rs.63 crore on hotelier Tarun Kondaraju and Rs.56 crore each on jewellers Sahil Sakaria Jain and Bharat Kumar Jain. On Tuesday, officers from the agency's Mumbai division delivered the notices in person at the prison, along with detailed documentation outlining the charges and evidence. Rao was arrested on March 3 after she attempted to allegedly smuggle 14.2kg of gold from Dubai into the country. htc
