New Delhi, April 10 -- Scores of medical graduates in Delhi have been unable to begin their practice due to inordinate delays in receiving registration from the Delhi Medical Council (DMC), as the post of registrar - who is authorised to issue registration numbers, certificates, and renewals - has remained vacant for nearly two months, officials and doctors said.

DMC, a statutory body regulating medical practice in the national capital, is responsible for registering practitioners, issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs), and addressing ethical complaints. The delays began after the council's former registrar, Dr Girish Tyagi, was removed in February for "unlawfully" continuing in the role beyond his tenure.
