Amritsar, April 25 -- Amid escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan and the closure of the Wagah Attari border post by the former, both countries on Thursday kept the Kartarpur corridor open to allow the movement of Indian Sikh pilgrims to the historic shrine.

Officials familiar with the matter said that the corridor is unlikely to be shut in the near future despite the tensions between the two sides. The shrine, located in Narowal district of Pakistan, is about 4.5km from the Indian side of the international border in Gurdaspur district.

The corridor remained operational on Thursday and pilgrims visited the Sri Darbar Sahib Kartarpu, which is the final resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak. "In the morning, there w...
