Lucknow, Nov. 26 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has committed a subsidy of Rs.17,100 crore for FY 2025-26 to support domestic and agricultural consumers. However, despite this substantial assistance, UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) continues to face a gap between the average cost of supply and the revenue it recovers from consumers.

According to the tariff order issued by UP Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) here on Saturday, the average cost of supply for the year is projected at Rs.8.18 per unit, while the average billing rate stands at Rs.7.61 per unit, bringing a loss of Rs.0.57 per unit sold to consumers.
