New Delhi, March 5 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the additional chief secretary of the irrigation and flood control department (I&FC) of the Delhi government to ensure that the covered portions of the Kushak and Sunehri Pul drain are de-silted, after the department said it had no expertise nor the powers to break open the covered area.

The tribunal said the additional chief secretary needs to submit a fresh affidavit on how the portions will be de-silted, after consulting both the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi chief secretary.
