New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- The Delhi drug control department will train pharmacists to check the over-the-counter sale of habit-forming drugs and improve vigilance against counterfeit medicines, officials said. Chemist associations have been directed to nominate representatives for the programme, which will begin with batches of 100 participants. Focus areas include pain relievers such as codeine and tramadol, and anti-anxiety drugs such as alprazolam and lorazepam. Officials said the training will cover identification of medicines through packaging and QR codes, and advise chemists against selling restricted drugs without prescriptions, to underage buyers, or through cash and online deliveries.
