New Delhi, June 26 -- The Delhi State Election Commission has begun preparations to conduct by-elections in 12 municipal wards - 11 of which got vacated after their councillors were elected to the Delhi assembly, and one after the sitting councillor was elected to Parliament earlier this year. Among the Assembly-linked vacancies is Shalimar Bagh B, previously held by chief minister Rekha Gupta. The Dwarka B seat fell vacant in June 2024 after Kamaljeet Sehrawat was elected MP from West Delhi. The schedule for the bypolls is yet to be notified.
