India, Oct. 12 -- Chief minister Rekha Gupta handed over cheques of Rs.1 crore each to the families of 11 government employees who died while performing their duties during the COVID-19 pandemic in a ceremony at the Delhi Secretariat on Saturday. Calling the gesture a "debt of gratitude" rather than financial aid, Gupta said the Delhi government was honouring those who served selflessly during a time of fear and uncertainty.
"These are not just cheques, but a symbol of our gratitude for their service, sacrifice, and dedication. No amount of money can compensate for the loss of a human life, but it is our moral duty to support these families," the CM said.
