India, March 26 -- The Delhi government on Tuesday allocated the highest chunk of the budget proposals to the education sector, amounting to Rs.19,291 crore - 19.29% of the Rs.1 lakh crore budget for the 2025-26 fiscal. This allocation was a significant increase from the revised estimate of Rs.15,924 crore from last year's budget.

Presenting this year's budget, chief minister Rekha Gupta said Rs.100 crore has been allocated for the opening of 60 new CM Shri schools from the upcoming 2025-26 session, in line with the PM Shri schools. "These schools will be fully compliant with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and will implement the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSC) 2023," she said.
