India, Dec. 3 -- Edward Luce is the chief US commentator and columnist at the Financial Times, based in Washington, DC. He previously served as the newspaper's South Asia bureau chief in Delhi from 2001 to 2006. Earlier, he served as speechwriter to the then US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers during the Clinton administration. Luce is the author of In Spite of the Gods: The Strange Rise of Modern India, which The Economist called the definitive book on modern India. Luce has helped decode India's place in an increasingly multipolar world, and in a recent interview, explained the rise of political figures like Zohran Mamdani.
