New Delhi, May 9 -- The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Thursday began a demolition drive in A-Block of Priyadarshini Vihar in Laxmi Nagar, targeting unauthorised structures - a satsang bhawan and a temple - built on land reserved for a nursery school measuring 926sqm, officials aware of the matter said. The action was carried out in compliance with Delhi high court orders from September 15, 2023, and October 14, 2024. "Part of the satsang bhawan was demolished, and the operation will continue on May 9," DDA said. The opposition AAP criticised the move, with its Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj alleging that the BJP-led government was deliberately targeting religious structures to incite communal tensions.
