Chandigarh, March 28 -- For the first time this year, temperature crossed the 35degC mark in the city on Thursday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

While this is in line with its forecast for above average heat this year, the temperature is likely to rise further in the coming days as per officials.

The maximum temperature rose from 34.3degC on Wednesday to 35.1degC on Thursday, 3.5 degrees above normal. This is the highest that the maximum temperature had gone last year as well. A temperature of 35.1degC was recorded on March 29, 2024. While the maximum temperature had gone up to 37degC on March 31 2022, the all-time high, as per IMD, is 38.2degC, which was recorded at the airport on March 25, 2010.
