India, Nov. 26 -- Two weather systems, a deep depression over the Straight of Malacca and a low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of South Sri Lanka, have been detected, with one of them likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by November 26, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A deep depression over the Strait of Malacca is expected to turn into a cyclonic storm on November 26, IMD said in a post on X in the early hours of Wednesday. The Strait of Malacca connects the Andaman Sea of the northeastern Indian Ocean and the South China Sea of the western Pacific Ocean.
