custody case: sc asks centre to speak to Russian top official
New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- The Supreme Court on Monday told the Centre to consider sending a law officer to meet Russia's Prosecutor General to expedite action in tracing the Russian woman who fled India with her minor son in violation of a court order in July last year.
With multiple attempts by Delhi police and the ministry of external affairs (MEA) to elicit information from the Russian government on the alleged complicity of Russian Embassy officials in Delhi in aiding Viktoriia Basu's escape, the Centre sought four more weeks to pursue its efforts. It added that the court's suggestion could be considered at the next hearing.
