Court upholds order for F.I.R. against cop for assaulting dog
New Delhi, July 26 -- A city court has upheld the registration of an FIR against a Delhi Police officer for allegedly assaulting a dog with a stick in 2022, noting that the act of beating a dog does not constitute official duty.
The order was passed by principal district and sessions judge Sukhvinder Kaur on July 18. The court was hearing a revision plea filed by assistant sub-inspector Ravindra of Jaffrabad Police Station, against a February 2023 order of a magisterial court, which had directed registration of an FIR against the officer for assaulting the dog.
