Pune, June 1 -- A special MP/MLA court in Pune on Saturday rejected Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's application seeking details of the maternal lineage of Satyaki Savarkar, the grand-nephew of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, over his defamation complaint against the Leader of Opposition's 2023 remarks about the Hindutva ideologue. Satyaki Savarkar had filed a defamation complaint against Gandhi over his speech in London in March 2023, wherein the Congress leader allegedly claimed that VD Savarkar written in a book that he and his friends once beat up a Muslim man, and felt happy about it.
