New Delhi, June 3 -- A city court has acquitted AAP MLA Anil Jha in a case under the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, observing that the use of a casteist slur during a heated exchange between two political colleagues cannot be construed as deliberate humiliation.
The court emphasised that the complainant appeared to be assigning a criminal colour to what was essentially a political altercation.
The incident dates back to February 2016. Sanjay Kumar, then BJP MLA alleged that Jha (also a BJP MLA then) hurled casteist slurs at him and Jha's associates also manhandled him. htc
