Cop trying to intercept red sander smugglers mowed down, 2 held
India, Feb. 7 -- Hyderabad A 32-year-old armed reserve constable of the Andhra Pradesh State Anti-Red Sanders Task Force (APSRSTF) was mowed down by a car carrying logs of red sanders when he tried to intercept it in Annamayya district in the wee hours of Tuesday, a police officer said. Two of the five occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested, he added.
The superintendent of police (SP) of Annamayya district B Krishna Rao said that the task force received a tip-off that some people were smuggling red sander logs from the Sundupalle forest area.
