New Delhi, Jan. 10 -- Senior Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to consider Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for the Bharat Ratna, citing his contribution to socialist politics and public life.
In a letter dated January 8, the former MP and political adviser to the JD(U), recalled the government's decision to confer the country's highest civilian honour on socialist stalwarts Chaudhary Charan Singh and Karpoori Thakur in March last year. "Many heroes have earlier been honoured while alive. On behalf of crores of people, there is hope and a humble request that Nitish Kumar be conferred this honour," the letter said.htc
