Congress accuses govt of cheating farmers
New Delhi, May 30 -- A day after the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a raise in minimum support prices (MSPs) for key kharif or summer-sown crops, the Congress accused the government of cheating farmers.
According to Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala, the government said that it has given MSP according to the C2+50% formula, but the farmers are not even recovering their cost. With the "nominal increase in MSP, it is not even offsetting the inflation rate", he added.
