Cong relied on deceit to win polls: Shekhawat
New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- The BJP on Thursday continued its attacks against the Congress over its allegations of irregularities in the electoral rolls, saying the opposition party and the Gandhi family have always had "double standards" about the issue of free and fair polls.
Addressing the media, Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat said, "From (former PMs) Jawaharlal Nehru to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, every ruler from the Gandhi-Nehru family has relied on fraud, deceit, and treachery to win elections."
Accusing the Gandhi family of "stealing mandates, looting booths to influence election results", the minister said the party is now making baseless statements to portray itself as the "saviour of democracy".
