commercial bills to be based on sewage discharge
New DelhiT, May 15 -- The Delhi government said on Wednesday it will bring in a policy to bill major commercial establishments based on the quantity of sewage they discharge, instead of traditional water meter readings. All hotels, banquet halls, shopping malls, private hospitals, and other large commercial establishments in the city will be covered, water minister Parvesh Verma said.
"The government does not have accurate data on water consumption of many of these entities. Many do not have legal connections or functional meters, yet they continue to discharge massive volumes of sewage.
