India, Oct. 3 -- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday inaugurated the Diwali Mela at Surajkund, calling Swadeshi, "Vocal for Local" and self-reliance the pillars of India's journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.

In his address, the chief minister said the mela's themes - "Aatmanirbhar Bharat - Swadeshi Mela" and "We Unite Families" - capture the economic and cultural essence of the festival.
