New Delhi, Dec. 20 -- A Delhi court has issued notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Veena Asija and the state election commission on a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Seema Goyal challenging the validity of the MCD bye-election from Ashok Vihar ward. Principal district and sessions judge Nisha Sahay Saxena of Rohini Courts passed the order on Thursday, listing the matter for hearing on December 24. In her plea, filed through advocate Prashant Manchanda, Goyal alleged that the election was "vitiated by a series of grave and fundamental illegalities," including corrupt practices during the counting on December 3. She also contended that statutory provisions of MCC were violated.ARNABJIT SUR
