Bengaluru, Dec. 20 -- The state cabinet has given conditional approval to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host Indian Premier League matches in M Chinnaswamy stadium in 2026, over six months after a deadly stampede that killed 11 people and cast a shadow over Bengaluru's most iconic sporting venue, officials in the know said on Friday.

The decision is predicated on compliance with 17 safety conditions laid down by the city police, based on recommendations by the Justice Michael D Cunha Committee. Officials said that permission would be granted once the requirements were fully implemented.
