India, May 20 -- China on Tuesday said it supports Pakistan in defending "national sovereignty and territorial integrity" during a visit by the country's foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, after Islamabad arrived at a ceasefire with India over the recent military clashes.

Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said his country welcomed the two-nuclear armed neighbours for "handling differences through dialogue" during a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart.

This is Pakistan's first official visit to China after the recent military clashes, which saw tit-for-tat drone, missile and artillery fire after the April 22 terror attack targeting mainly tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
