India, March 12 -- The Congress legislators in Chhattisgarh staged a walkout in the state Assembly on Wednesday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in land compensation distribution for a central government road project of Raipur-Visakhapatnam economic corridor under Bharatmala project.

The Congress legislators alleged irregularities to the tune of around Rs.350 crores in the land compensation distribution and claimed that political leaders and senior officials were involved in it. It led to a heated debate in the House. Later, the Congress MLAs staged a walkout after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government admitted to irregularities but refused to order a CBI inquiry.
