New Delhi, Oct. 24 -- The Delhi government has started preparations on a war footing for Chhath Puja, with over 1,300 ghats across the city being readied for devotees, officials said. Lieutenant governor VK Saxena and culture minister Kapil Mishra jointly inspected Vasudev Ghat on Thursday to review arrangements related to cleanliness, lighting and security. "The former government insulted Purvanchalis by banning Chhath Puja. Now, the people of Purvanchal will celebrate with pride and self-respect," Mishra said. The Aam Aadmi Party, in response, said that Bharatiya Janata Party's affection for the community is a "sham, stemming from political desperation ahead of the Bihar polls".htc
