India, Sept. 11 -- US right-wing activist and Donald Trump's ally, Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck on Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University.

The 31-year-old was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery, according to a university spokesperson. According to the Associated Press, his condition is critical.

Videos shared on social media showed that Kirk was being asked questions about mass shootings in America when he was shot in the neck.

"Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America in the last 10 years?" a person asked Kirk, according to The New York Times.

"Counting or not counting gang violence?" Kirk responded right before he is shot.
