New Delhi, April 30 -- The Delhi government has resumed the issuance of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificates, two weeks after a controversy erupted over the halting of the service due to alleged irregularities in the process. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government has now warned that any laxity in the issuance of the certificates may lead to initiation of disciplinary action, according to officials aware of the development. At least two revenue department officials confirmed the resumption, and said instructions have been issued to revenue authorities to make sure stringent scrutiny of all relevant documents are carried out before the issuance of the certificate.
