New Delhi, May 23 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation said on Thursday it has filed a charge sheet against former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik and seven others in its case related to alleged corruption in the award of a contract worth Rs.2,200 crore of civil works of Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project (HEP) to a private company in the Union territory. Malik was effectively the whistle-blower who pointed to corruption in this contract. He was raided by the agency in February last year. A CBI official said on Thursday that "the charge sheet has been filed after completion of probe and gathering prosecutable evidence against all the accused persons including Malik".
