GUWAHATI, Sept. 2 -- Battle lines have been drawn for the polls seen as a precursor to next year's assembly election in Assam with most major parties announcing their candidates for this month's election to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in the state. The polls are expected to see a keen contest between two local outfits, ruling United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL) and Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF), which was in power earlier. With chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma actively campaigning in the election, Bharatiya Janata Party is also a strong contender.
