India, Aug. 12 -- The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved Phase-1B of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project in Uttar Pradesh. The 11.165-km stretch will feature 12 stations, seven underground and five elevated, and connect key areas of Old Lucknow.

Real estate experts say the new link is expected to boost property values, especially in the city's established and densely populated markets. Once completed, Lucknow's operational metro network will extend to 34 km.

To be built at an estimated cost of Rs.5,801 crore, the network will link some of the city's oldest and busiest neighbourhoods that currently lack fast and reliable transport. It will cut through Old Lucknow, connecting commercial centres like Aminabad, ...
