Business activity in June surges on strong demand
New Delhi, June 24 -- India's private sector business activity, as seen in the Flash Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), rose to a 14-month high of 61 in June from a final reading of 59.3 in May, according to data released by S&P Global on Monday. Growth in output and orders -- both in the domestic and international markets -- specifically in the manufacturing sector was the primary reason for the uptick in June.
Flash PMI values are released a few days ahead of the actual PMI numbers, and include 80%-90% of the responses used in the calculation of the final PMI readings. India became the eighth country to have a flash PMI indicator in January 2024.
