India, Feb. 2 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday, February 1, presented the Union Budget 2026-27 in Lok Sabha. The Ministry of Education has been allotted Rs.139289.48 crore for the year, an 8.27% increase from last year. The Department of School Education & Literacy received an allocation of Rs.83562.26 crores, an increase of 6.35 per cent, and the Department of Higher Education received an allocation of Rs.55727.22 crores, an increase of 11.28 per cent, as compared to 2025-26.
