India, May 14 -- The Border Security Force (BSF) said on Wednesday that the jawan who was in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, 2025, has been handed over to India.
Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw was handed over at about 10.30 am through the Joint Check Post in Attari, Amritsar, BSF said.
Shaw was detained by Pakistan Rangers on April 23 after he accidentally crossed the zero line in the Ferozepur sector, according to officials.
He was taken taken into custody a day after the devastating terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, in which 26 people died. Most of these victims were tourists.
