India, Jan. 28 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died on Wednesday, January 28, after the aircraft he was travelling in crashed while attempting to land in Baramati, Maharashtra. The tragic news was confirmed by one of his close aides.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aircraft was carrying five passengers at the time of the crash. Along with the Nationalist Congress Party leader, those on board included Vidip Jadhav, Pinki Mali, Sumit Kapoor, and Shambhavi Pathak. Kiran Gujar, a close aide of Pawar present at the local hospital, said, "All six people including Ajit Pawar brought dead."
