India, Jan. 16 -- As the counting of votes are underway, Mahayuti alliance of BJP and Shiv Sena have crossed the majority mark in early trends, as of 1:30pm. BJP currently has 89 leads and the Shiv Sena has 29, bringing their alliance's tally to 118. The majority mark for a win in the BMC is 114 wards out of 227.

The polls, held on January 15, covered 2,869 seats across 893 wards in 29 municipal corporations and were keenly watched amid shifting political alliances and intense contests in key urban centres. Follow BMC election result LIVE
