India, Nov. 27 -- Amid mounting complaints of errors in the draft voter list for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the State Election Commission (SEC) has extended the deadline for the final publication of electoral rolls from December 5 to December 10. This is the second extension and is likely to further delay the municipal corporation elections across Maharashtra.
The SEC announced on Wednesday that it is extending the deadline for the final publication of the voter list to December 10, allowing more time for scrutiny. The last date for the publication of the booth-wise voter list has also been pushed from December 12 to December 22.
