Noida, April 2 -- An explosion in an air-conditioner system at a real estate office on the first floor of Krishna Apra Plaza in Noida's Sector 18 triggered a massive blaze on Tuesday morning, at a time when hundreds of people were inside the eight-storey commercial complex.

As thick smoke choked the building, four people - including a woman - were forced to leap from the third and fourth floors in a desperate attempt to save their lives. While, no deaths were reported, at least 14 suffered injuries, according to locals and fire officials.

Home to over 50 businesses, the plaza typically hosts 200 workers and even more visitors.

The fire broke out around 11.27am, filling corridors and stairwells with acrid smoke. Visibility was near zero. ...
