Hyderabad, April 23 -- The BJP will contest the by-election to the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh with the support of its alliance partners, Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party, people in the TDP familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with Union home minister Amit Shah at the latter's residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. Telangana BJP chief and Union minister for coal G Kishan Reddy also attended the meeting.
The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after the resignation of former YSR Congress party MP V Vijay Sai Reddy on January 25. Later, he also quit the party.
